I found the financial planning and management topic a little unclear and not really to the point...i found the statistics a little confusing and hence was unsure whether my information was correct eg. my accounts receivable turnover ratio etc. and would like to grow through them in class regarding the qantas case study...
Hi. About the Qantas case study: I found the Financial Management chapter too brief. Browsing through the case study and notes, I find no mention of 'the role of financial planning', 'financial markets relevant to business financial needs', 'effective working capital management' and 'effective financial planning'.
Also, in regards to Business Management and Change, I'm unsure of some of the terminology being used throughout the chapter, such as 'economies of scale' in the strategic alliances and networks section (p16).
I'd be very happy if these areas were discussed during the week. Thank you.
Qantas case study... In regards to Employment Relations, effective employment relations strategies is covered well in the case study. It has numerous examples of strategies used to reduce the likelihood of industrial comflict and ways which it improves the effectiveness of its employment relations. These include: - Financial rewards - Non-financial rewards - Training and Development and - Flexible Working Conditions
This section also gives two detailed examples of Industrial Conflict which include: - Engineers Dispute 2007-2008 and - Baggage Handlers Dispute 2008 The case study explains how the issue arised and how it was solved, overall this section of the syllabus is covered well by Qantas case study.
Hey mr koz My comment about the case study is: The financial planning section is abit to concise and is constantly just spitting out facts but doesn't go through it as much as the other topics which follow the syllabus outline. Also it gives us balance sheets that don't have much reference to the syllabus but just seem to occupy space to state the work of the business and it's turnover.
